"Not believing in fate"—if only that were truly possible!
Yet, no matter how much we deny it, fate persists. It's not something that ceases to exist just because we choose not to acknowledge it.
A memorable line from a popular video game reads: "Foolish humans, you struggle against destiny, but how do you know that isn't part of destiny itself?"
After 27 years of practice, I’ve gathered eight key insights about fate and fortune-telling:
1. Is fortune-telling accurate?
Absolutely. While fortune-telling may not predict every small event in life with perfect precision, it’s often remarkably accurate when it comes to major life patterns. The fact that fortune-telling has survived and thrived across cultures and centuries shows that it offers valuable insights. If it were all just nonsense, it would have been forgotten long ago, much like some historical figures or authors whose work faded into obscurity.
2. Why is fortune-telling accurate?
Life operates on a balance of natural forces like yin and yang. Humans, despite our complexity, are still subject to these universal laws. Our lives are influenced by the sun, the moon, and Earth's magnetic field, much like everything else in nature. Given these influences, human fate follows patterns, just as planetary movements do. When combined with culture, philosophy, and individual circumstances, this leads to an accurate assessment of one’s life path.
3. Is destiny predetermined?
The answer depends on how you define "destiny." Life is a combination of "fate" and "luck." Minor choices, like whether you have a blueberry muffin or a chocolate one for breakfast, fall under luck. These are changeable and often the result of day-to-day decisions. However, bigger life events—such as who you marry, the success of your career, or major life directions—are more influenced by fate. As much as we'd like to think we're in control, how many of us can truly control where we are born or who we fall in love with? Understanding fate is key to realizing the balance between what we can and can't change.
4. Can you change your destiny?
This is a tough question. Most people who ask this are already resigned to certain aspects of their fate. They hope to either minimize bad outcomes or enhance good ones. In my experience, it is possible to adjust certain aspects of your fate, but it’s not easy. Bad habits, for example, are difficult to break, and in a similar way, changing the course of one's life requires effort and discipline. Personal development plays a crucial role in transforming one's life outcomes.
5. Why do people consult fortune-tellers?
Aside from the obvious desire to avoid misfortune and capitalize on good times, fortune-telling offers deep personal insights. In today’s fast-paced world, people are less concerned about survival and more focused on personal happiness and fulfillment. Fortune-telling now serves as a tool for self-reflection, helping people better understand themselves and their life’s purpose. When I work with older clients, they often reminisce about how a single piece of advice from a fortune-teller helped shape their life's journey. As Socrates said, "All humans seek happiness," and if fortune-telling can help you find your path to happiness, then it’s worth considering.
6. How does one start studying fortune-telling?
Many people come into this field by chance or coincidence. Those who study metaphysics often ask me, "How did you become so skilled at this?" My answer is always the same: "It’s a combination of fate and hard work—nothing more, nothing less."
7. Is my fate good?
This is a complicated question, and it largely depends on how you choose to view your life. Those with stable and peaceful lives may not achieve major success, while those who face more challenges might experience breakthroughs. People who are detached from relationships often find success in business, while those who lead a more minimalist lifestyle might not accumulate as much wealth. In the end, perspective plays a huge role in whether you consider your fate "good" or "bad."
8. Are we compatible in love, marriage, or business partnerships?
Human relationships, especially in love, are complex and timeless. Fortune-telling can reveal whether two people have compatible energies, whether their life paths align, and whether they can sustain a long-term relationship. However, it cannot replace the real emotional connection between two people—something only you can experience.
